Gayle is a leadership coach and facilitator with 40 years experience in philanthropy and nonprofits. Gayle’s passion is nurturing people, organizations and networks to build from core values, learn from experience, adapt to change with resilience and creativity, and honor the human spirit. Gayle served as Executive Director of the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation for almost 20 years, where she led the Foundation board and staff in two ten-year cycles of strategic learning and program development focused on equity and opportunity in the Southeastern US. Before Babcock, she was a Program Director at the Lilly Endowment. She has served on several national and statewide nonprofit boards, including MAG, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families, Action for Children NC, and the Center for Courage and Renewal. She is a Courage and Renewal Facilitator, currently co-facilitating the Courage and Renewal Academy for Leaders. She is an instructor with the Grantmaking School at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy. Her academic background includes a B.A. from Meredith College in Raleigh and a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from NC State University.
