Karl Mathiasen Subsidy Fund

The Karl Mathiasen Capacity Building Fund is a philanthropic fund MAG uses to subsidize its work with groups that have limited means to engage in organization building.

We launched the Fund in 1995 to honor our co-founder’s immeasurable contributions to the advocacy and organizational development fields, to ensure that his influence would continue to be felt long after his retirement, and to continue to provide needed services to worthy organizations who couldn’t otherwise afford assistance.  The fund also finances cutting-edge activist strategies and programs.

Since the Fund’s inception, gifts from committed individuals have financed work with over 50 social justice organizations. Through the fund, donations help strengthen and build some of the most exciting, innovative organizations in the field of social justice. We prioritize groups at early stages of development, who are working to make immediate impact on hot-button issues, or who are pursuing truly creative strategies for addressing entrenched problems.

Our ability to work with these groups depends on the generous contributions of individual donors. We encourage you to make an investment in these critical groups by donating to the Karl Mathiasen Capacity Building Fund.   The groups that you help subsidize will be told of your support, and you'll get a report on the successes your funds have made possible.
